Home EV Charger Installation

A dedicated home EV charger allows you to charge your electric vehicle conveniently without relying entirely on public charging facilities.

We install domestic EV charging points for properties with suitable off-street parking, including driveways, garages and carports.

A typical installation may include:

• A dedicated electrical circuit for the charger.

• Suitable circuit protection.

• Assessment of the existing electrical supply.

• Appropriate cable installation and routing.

• Charger mounting and electrical connections.

• Electrical inspection, testing and certification.

• Charger setup and commissioning where applicable.

The installation requirements depend on your property, the charger selected and the existing electrical infrastructure.

7kW Home EV Chargers

A 7kW-class home charger is a common option for properties with a suitable single-phase electrical supply.

These chargers typically provide significantly faster charging than a standard domestic socket.

Actual charging speeds depend on the vehicle, charger, electrical supply and any load-management settings.

We can assess whether your electrical installation is suitable for the proposed charger.

Smart EV Charging

Many modern EV chargers offer smart features designed to make home charging more convenient.

Depending on the charger, these may include:

• Scheduled charging.

• Mobile app monitoring.

• Charging during off-peak electricity periods.

• Energy consumption monitoring.

• Dynamic load management.

• Integration with compatible solar PV systems.

We can discuss the features you require and the electrical installation needed to support your chosen equipment.

EV Charger Installation for Garages & Carports

We install electrical supplies for EV chargers located in garages, carports and other suitable parking areas.

Where the charger is positioned away from the main property, the installation may require an underground cable, armoured cable or an alternative suitable wiring method.

We assess the cable route, installation conditions and electrical requirements before providing a quotation.

Can My Existing Consumer Unit Support an EV Charger?

Not every property requires a new consumer unit when installing an EV charger.

However, the existing electrical installation must be assessed to establish whether it can safely accommodate the additional load and provide the required protection.

Depending on the installation, additional protective equipment, a separate enclosure or alterations to the existing electrical system may be necessary.

Where appropriate, we can also discuss consumer unit upgrades as part of the installation.

How Much Does EV Charger Installation Cost?

The cost of installing a home EV charger depends on several factors, including:

• The charger model and its requirements.

• Distance from the electrical supply to the charging point.

• Cable routing and installation method.

• Existing consumer unit and electrical protection.

• Available electrical supply capacity.

• Whether groundworks or additional electrical alterations are required.

We provide quotations based on the proposed installation and site conditions.

Customer-supplied chargers can also be discussed, subject to compatibility and suitability.
