How much does an electrician cost in Welwyn Garden City?
Our standard labour rate is £50 + VAT per hour, with a £70 + VAT first-hour charge for smaller jobs. For larger projects such as consumer unit replacements, rewires and installations, we provide a fixed-price quotation after assessing the work.
Do I need to replace my old fuse box?
Not automatically. An older fuse box doesn't need replacing just because it doesn't meet the latest regulations. Replacement may be recommended if it's damaged, deteriorated, unsuitable for alterations or can't accommodate new circuits. We assess your installation before recommending an upgrade.
Why does my RCD keep tripping?
Frequent tripping can be caused by faulty appliances, damaged wiring, moisture in electrical equipment or insulation faults. Repeatedly resetting an RCD without finding the cause isn't recommended. We can investigate with proper testing and recommend a repair.
How often does a landlord need an EICR?
Landlords in England must have the electrical installation inspected and tested at least every five years, or sooner if the previous report says so, by a qualified and competent person.
